Wallsworth Hall, 2m north of Gloucester on A38, GL2 9PG
As a member of the Arborealists, I will be participating in the Ancient Trees exhibition at the Nature in Art gallery, Wallsworth Hall near Gloucester. This fantastic gallery's exhibition is a unique collaboration between The Arborealists and Julian Hight, celebrated authority on ancient trees and author of Britain’s Tree Story among others.
Britain is one of the least forested countries in northern Europe, but boasts the highest number of ancient trees. What we lack in woodland cover is almost made up for by the historical value of these sylvan beasts. Some may have stood for over a thousand years. Indeed, some British Yew trees are reputed to be up to four times that age, which if true, makes them the oldest living trees in Europe.
The Arbourealists, of which I am a member will be exhibiting at the Batsford gallery - a fantastic East London gallery space launched by Batsford Books, a leading publisher and originator of the Batsford Prize. Located at 266 Hackney Road E2, under the B. T. Batsford book shop, it is conveniently situated between Broadway Market and Columbia Road on an exciting stretch of the Hackney Road.
The opening hours: 11-6 weekends / 12-7 Thursday-Friday
