Inspired by the Willowbrook running thru Kings Cliffe.
This modern wooden bridge crosses the Willowbrook, joining Maltings Green to the Hills & Holes.
I drew inspiration for this from the Fauvism style of painting, pioneered by French artist Andre Derain.
This was inspired by a visit to the Jardin Agdal in Marrakech, Morocco
The Hills and Holes at Kings Cliffe are a hummocky landscape alongside the Willow Brook. They may have been the result of medieval Fishponds being created or excavations from stone pits.

The Fineshade Ash is a magnificent tree in the small carpark at Top Lodge, Fineshade Woods in North Northamptonshire. This tree has an amazing girth of 7.4m and is hollow inside. It is estimated to be about 500 years old, so may have been a seedling during the reign of Henry VIII.

The Bowthorpe Oak in Manthorpe near Bourne, Lincolnshire is probably England's oldest oak tree with an estimated age of over 1,000 years and a circumference of 12.30 metres. The hollow interior had been fitted with seats and has apparently been used as a dining room for 20 people in the past ! I have created a collection of oil on canvas and graphite on paper based on this wonderous tree.
